MICHAEL MOUANGXONG SHOT ANALYSIS

Angle - The ball is brought straight up in this shot. My arm isn’t really following my shot, I like my focus in my shot, the focus would help in real game situations. If you look closely, you can see my off hand just before the release. Having your off hand on while releasing will cause the ball to shift in another direction. Also my fingers are pointing straight down, except for my pinky finger. I find it helps me when it’s out.

Angle #2 - In my second shot, I noticed that my off hand did not go away from the ball which means that I’m not shooting properly. And my shooting arm does not go up straight it goes a little tilted, I think this is because I use more of my arms than legs so I rely more on the strength of my arms than my wrist.

ANGLE #3 - As I grab the ball to rise for my shot, My feet consistently land with my right foot in front of the other. The ball is always kept in front of my body and when I release the ball, my right elbow seems to be pushing the ball, rather than my legs. I need to improve my pre-shot steps, instead of just grabbing the ball, I should be set with my legs bent and my wrists cocked to get the most efficient release possible. Again, I need to finish my elbow above my eyes for better overall ark on my shot and follow through with my shot, my shot is pretty broken.

Things that need to be improved:
- Following through with my shot
- using more of my legs instead of my arms
- making sure my arm isn’t tilted during the shot
- legs more bent shot looking more stable.

TOM'S SHOOTING ANALYSIS

Angle 1: Straight On - Camera under Basket

FROM THIS FOOTAGE, I BROUGHT THE BALL FROM MY LEFT SIDE TO MY RIGHT SIDE IN A CIRCLE MOTION, MY KNEES THEN BEND INWARDS SO I M ABLE TO PROVIDE ENOUGH ARC, THAT MY SHOT GOES IN. AFTERWARDS I RAISE MY BODY FROM MY TOES TO PROVIDE ENOUGH POWER FOR MY SHOT. AFTER THE BALL IS BROUGHT TO MY FOREHEAD I THEN TAKE MY GUIDE HAND AND PLACE IT OFF TO THE SIDE, SO ITS JUST MY GUIDE HAND, THEN BALL IS REALSED.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kpenrljIlOI

PROBLEMS - WRIST IS CURLED IN, GUIDE HAND IS AT A 10 O'CLOCK ANGLE, WRIST FLICK IS NOT SMOOTH

Angle 2: Rear View - Video Shot Behind The Shooter

FROM THIS FOOTAGE, THE BALL IS STILL BROUGHT FROM THE LEFT SIDE TO THE BALL SIDE, THEN I BEND DOWN AT A 90 DEGREE ANGLE, AS I BRING THE BALL UP WARDS TO THE MIDDLE OF MY FOREHEAD I NOTICE MY ELBOW TEND TO SHIFT TO MY RIGHT SIDE, LASTLY AFTER THE BALL REACHES MY FOREHEAD I THEN RELEASE THE BALL.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pccer1BNg7Y

PROBLEMS- AFTER BALL IS RELEASED GUIDE HAND THUMB TEND TO CURL IN AFTER SHOT IS FIRED, SHOT IS FIRED FOLLOW THROUGH HAND IS CURLED IN, ELBOW IS NOT STRAIGHT.

Angle 3: Side View - Camera On Shooting Hand

FROM THIS FOOTAGE, BALL IS FLICKED FORWARD AND PLAYER IS TO GRAB THE BALL AND SHOOT RIGHT AWAY, IN THIS FOOTAGE YOU WILL SEE ME SHOOT AT
MY RIGHT SIDE. RIGHT AWAY I CATCH THE BALL, I GET IN MY SHOOING STANCE AND I REALESE TE BALL.

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=B2_DOiTib60

PROBLEM- ARMS ARE NOT EXTENDED TO FULL REACH, WRIST IS CURLED IN

CONCLUSION

OVERALL I THINK THE MOST IMPORTANT THING THAT MY SHOT NEEDS TO DEVELOPE IS A SMOOTHER 1 MOTION SHOT AND I NEED TO DEVELOPE A BETTER WRIST FLEX, THE BALL SHOULD BE COMING OF THE MIDDLE FINGER BUT INSTEAD IT COMES OF THE RING FINGER.

Tonny shot analysis

Kelley Stevenson Shot Analysis 2017

ANGLE 1                            Straight on Camera under the basket

In the first angle my finger, elbow, knee and toe are in the same plane.
My fingers don't really point towards my toes. My elbow finishes above my eyes. my
off hand comes off the ball just as I release the ball.

ANGLE 2                           Rear View Camera behind Shooter

My hand is more under the ball than behind the ball but the shooting fingers are in the middle.
My hand is at the 9 o’clock. The ball is released with one hand. My off hand is vertical at release.

ANGLE 3                         Side View Camera on Shooting Hand Side

My wrist is cocked before release. My footwork is consistent. The ball is kept in front of my body.
When the ball is released my elbow shooting elbow is above my eye while the other one is near my eye.

Conclusion
In conclusion my shot was alright but there were something I could improve on. 1.my fingers don't really point towards my toes so I would like to improve on that. 2. my feet aren't really squared up towards the basket so I would also like to improve on that. 3. I would like to improve on my vert because its not really that good.

Rhofert's Shot Analysis

Angle 1: Straight on- Camera under basket.

Is the ball brought straight up on the shooting hand side? Yes, I find it more comfortable if I bring the ball up with my left hand instead of bringing it up with my shooting hand.
Are finger, elbow, knee and toe in the same plane?
Yes, all of them seem to be in line after i shot the ball but my right knee was sort of pushed in and not really lined up with my finger, elbow and toe.
Do the shooting fingers finish pointing down towards your forward foot?
Yes, I could see my pointer finger and my middle finger pointing downwards to my toe.
Does your elbow finish near or above your eyes?
Yes, it was hard to see on the video but when i shoot i usually end up having my elbow around my eye level.
Does the off- hand come of the ball just before release?
Yes, my off-hand comes off just on the right time before i release the ball.

Angle 2: Rear View- Camera is directly behind shooter.
Is the shooting had directly behind the ball with the two shooting fingers in the middle? Yes, but at some time i tend to put my shooting hand on the right side of the ball let my the ball slide to the correct spot before shooting.
Is the off-hand at 9 or 3 o’clock? No, my support hand stay where it is when starting to let the ball go and after the ball goes out of my hands.
Is the ball released with one-hand? Yes, if not the ball would not be going straight to where i want it to go.
Is the off-hand vertical at release?  Or is it rotated towards the ball?  What would this mean? My support hand is vertical at release, it either means that i'm releasing my support hand too early or just right on the money.

Angle 3: Side View- Camera on shooting hand side.
Is the wrist cocked before the release?
Yes, my shooting hand was right underneath the ball before i released the ball.
Is the footwork consistant? Yes, it didn't really show on the video but its usually consistent
Is the ball kept in front of the body? Yes, sometimes the ball is way too close to my head when going up to for my shot.
When the ball is released are the elbows near or above the eyes? Yes, my elbow is just right on my eye level when shooting.

Conclusion:
Overall, i think my shot is good. I just need to improve my timing on my jumpers because i tend to jump and release the ball on my way down and not when i'm going up with my jump. I also need to improve on little things such as which finger the ball is released on. That's the only reason why my shot is 'broken' as of right now.

Gio Shot Analysis

GIO SHOT ANALYSIS

Angle 1: Straight-on camera under basket

  • Is the ball brought up straight on the shooting hand side?

The ball is brought up straight but as soon as i follow through, it points away from the basket               instead of towards it.
  • Are the finger, elbow, knee and toe on the same plane?

My fingers, elbows, knees, and toes are aligned when I shoot, some things that I can fix are                  releasing my shot in between my pointer and middle finger so that my shot will get a perfect                rotation instead of spinning sideways like it is in this video.
  • Do the fingers point to your foot after your shot?
My fingers weren't pointing towards the ground in my follow through which i need to work on            because in this video, my fingers were pointing towards under the net.
  • Does my elbow finish above or around my eyes?
After shooting my shooting elbow is right on my eye but I tend to lean back in this video which          made my elbow go right below my eyes.
  • Does the off hand come off the ball just before the release?
My offhand comes off barely just before I shoot, I need to release my off hand earlier so that it           doesn't interfere with my shooting accuracy.

            Angle 2:  Rear-View camera

  • Is the shooting hand directly behind the ball with the two shooting fingers in the middle?
My shooting hand is directly behind the ball but is angled to my off hand instead of being                    straight, when i release the ball, it looks like my shooting fingers are in between the ball in this            video but I feel that it is not which i need to get more efficient with.
  • Is the off hand at 9 or 3 o'clock?
My offhand finishes pointing to the ceiling therefore it is a 9 o'clock, in this video it looks like I           am using my off thumb to help me shoot but I don't use it anymore.
  • Is the ball released with one hand?
The ball is being released only with my shooting hand but when I remove my off hand when I             do form shooting, it feels like I have less control.
  • Is the off hand at vertical or rotated towards the ball when released?
The off hand is vertical pointing towards the ceiling which means that i let go off the ball and              relax my off hand after.

                Angle 3: Side view

  • Is the wrist cocked before the release?
My wrist is cocked before the release but in this video, I had a two motion shot which caused               my shot to be slow and my wrist to be cocked late instead of having it cocked back all ready to           go.
  • Is the footwork consistent?
My footwork is consistent but I can also catch and shoot off two feet or a 1-2 step but I feel                 more comfortable catching a ball off a 1-2 step which means that i need to work on my two feet           catch and shooting so that I could be more consistent with both methods.
  • Is the ball in front of the body the whole time?
The ball is in front of my body but in this video, right before I release my shot, I put the ball               above my forehead which caused the ball to not be in front of me the whole time.
  • When the ball is released, is it above or near the eyes?
From this angle, my shooting elbow was right on my eyes.

              Conclusion
Overall, I think that my shot is pretty normal (Squared, off hand goes off before release, shooting with one hand, shooting hand aligned with hip and following through), I think that i need to be more consistent because my shot doesn't always look the same so I need to work on that and also having a quicker release because I am small which means i need to shoot faster so I won't get blocked in a game another thing that i need to work on is the ball rotation, the backspin on my shot is very inconsistent and I think is the main reason that causes me to miss most of my shots.
